AEW is known for its next level of violence during a few specific matches and that includes the Blood & Guts match on Dynamite this week. During the bout, Jack Perry was also hit with an unprotected chair shot and now we have more news in that regard.

During the July 24th edition of Dynamite, AEW held their fourth Blood & Guts match at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The match featured Team AEW (Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, and The Acclaimed) facing off against The Elite (The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry, and Hangman Page).

The match was filled with chaos and violence, featuring many bloody and risky moments. Max Caster had thumbtacks shoved into his mouth before being superkicked by the Young Bucks. Jack Perry, who was handcuffed to the cage, took an unprotected chair shot to the head from Mark Briscoe using Perry’s own ‘scapegoat’ chair.

Fans had hoped the chair was “gimmicked” to lessen the impact, but many believe it was a real chair. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez stated that the chair was shaved down, though he could not specify the exact level of softness. Despite being gimmicked, the shot was still quite impactful.

“I can tell you this, it was one of the shaved-down chairs. I don’t know how shaved down that is. I don’t know how soft that is. It was a gimmicked chair. Still, they waffled that dude with that chair.”

Corey Graves also raised concern over the chair shot, calling out AEW over the spot but he ended up deleting the tweet. Team AEW would ultimately prevail thanks to Darby Allin threatening to set Jack Perry on fire and that’s all that matters to them now.

What’s your opinion on this revelation behind the chair shot Jack Perry took during Blood & Guts? Do you feel even gimmicked chair shots to the head should be banned? Let us know in the comments section below!
