Bryan Danielson is renowned as one of the premier professional wrestlers worldwide, having competed at the pinnacle of the sport for numerous years. He will be bringing an end to his full-time in-ring career this year and Tony Khan has now confirmed that Danielson will be staying with AEW for a long time after that.

For several months, Danielson has been outspoken about his plans to retire from full-time wrestling in 2024 to devote more time to his family. While a specific date or event for his final match has not yet been confirmed, fans remain curious about how Danielson will ultimately conclude his wrestling career.

While speaking during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Tony Khan talked about the veteran presence on AEW’s roster, mentioning Bryan Danielson as a key figure. Khan emphasized the strong leadership within the company, pointing out Danielson’s significant role and influence.

“We have so many great captains on this team, and that’s what’s really exciting. We have great leadership, great people here, and nobody greater, I think it’s fair to say, Bryan Danielson is a huge part of the company.”

Khan also mentioned Danielson’s upcoming match against AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at AEW All In. Strickland had suggested that this could be Danielson’s last significant match, though Khan acknowledged uncertainty about how much longer Danielson would continue wrestling.

Khan expressed that it would be a sad day for both wrestling and himself personally when Danielson eventually retires, but he valued having Danielson as part of the team and in the locker room on a weekly basis.

“I can’t say how much time Bryan has left in the ring, but he has said this will be his final year, and this is gonna be the year Bryan hangs them up from up full-time wrestling. At that point, it’s gonna be a sad day for pro wrestling and for me personally. But it’s great to be able to have Bryan that I can call and talk to and have in the locker room with us every week.”

When asked if he would like to retain Danielson’s presence in AEW after his retirement, Khan expressed a strong desire for Danielson to remain with the company in some capacity. Khan then noted that Danielson is planning to stay with AEW for a long time going forward as part of the company, after retirement.

“Absolutely, 100%. I hope Bryan will stay here for the rest of his life, and I know he’s planning to stay with us for a long time going forward as part of the company. I would want Bryan to stay with us as long as humanly possible.”

Bryan Danielson also vowed to show his family he is the best in the world at AEW All in. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what role Bryan Danielson will have in AEW once he finally hangs up his pro wrestling boots for good.
