AEW has experienced significant changes over the past five years, including new talent signings and updates to production values. As negotiations continue between AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery, Tony Khan has addressed the topic of AEW content appearing on MAX internationally.

AEW has solid relationship with Warner Bros Discovery and Tony Khan has stated on numerous occasions that he sees a favorable outcome to AEW’s ongoing negotiations with Warner Bros Discovery.

Last week, fans outside the US noticed that AEW content had begun appearing on MAX. The AEW catalog is listed under the “Sport, Sport Stars & Stories” genre. Additionally, pay-per-views like AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door are also available on the MAX streaming platform.

While speaking to Tim & Eli on Battleground, Tony Khan talked about the AEW’s content appearing on MAX internationally. He emphasized that AEW’s presence on TBS and TNT, channels historically significant for wrestling, has been a major achievement. Khan highlighted the importance of continuing this tradition, particularly on TBS, which has a wrestling history spanning over 50 years.

Khan noted that the conversations with Warner Brothers Discovery have been productive, despite the complexity of the negotiations surrounding AEW’s TV shows, pay-per-view content, and streaming library.

Khan mentioned that both AEW Dynamite and Rampage recently achieved their highest ratings in months, reflecting the positive momentum within the company. The ongoing discussions are seen as crucial for determining the future of AEW’s media presence and Khan remains enthusiastic about the partnership with Warner Brothers Discovery.

“It’s such an exciting time for AEW. We’re in great conversations with our partners at Warn brothers Discovery. It’s a real blessing to me and I think everyone in AEW that we’re able to put wrestling on TBS and TNT every week. Wrestling on TBS and TNT was a big part of our childhoods. There was no wrestling on TNT for about 18 years and no wrestling on TBS for over 20 years. It meant a lot to bring that back, in particular on TBS, that tradition goes back over 50 years. I love it here. We’re having great talks. It means the world to be able to do this. We’re in very deep exciting conversations. There is a lot to figure out. We have these great shows with AEW Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. Our prime time shows, both coming on at 8, we’ve been doing great, great ratings with our flagship shows. It’s a really exciting time. This past week, both shows did their biggest numbers in months. It’s an exciting time for us to hit new highs. The conversations are awesome right now. There is a lot to figure out with the AEW TV shows, our pay-per-view content, our streaming library, and all of these things. It’s a lot of very complex conversations, but they’ve been great. We’re having great talks with Warner Brothers Discovery now and it’s a great partnership and we’re very fortunate to be here. It’s a great place for wrestling.”

We have also reported the significance of the July 17th edition of AEW Dynamite’s ratings on AEW’s negotiations with Warner Bros Discovery, we will have to wait and see whether AEW will end up announcing a new deal with Warner Bros Discovery soon enough, as that seems to be the case at the moment.
