AEW is striving to present top-tier shows, with an impending deal with WBD still in the works. While the deal is expected to close, no official word has been released yet. Following last week’s Dynamite 250 episode, AEW brought fans Blood & Guts 2024 on July 24, one of their most anticipated annual events.

Blood and Guts is a major stipulation match and a fan favorite. Tonight’s event features Team Elite versus Team AEW. Team Elite includes Adam Page, Kazuchika Okada, Matthew & Nicholas Jackson, and Jack Perry, while Team AEW comprises Swerve Strickland, Darby Allin, Mark Briscoe, and The Acclaimed.

Fans in Nashville were thrilled to see the Blood & Guts match begin, with The Elite making the first entrances as Jack Perry started the match for his team. Darby Allin was the first representative for Team AEW, and the battle began outside the double ring steel cage. They fought into the crowd before returning to the ring, where Perry subjected Darby to intense punishment using various weapons.

Matt Jackson joined the match next, bringing a suitcase with an AEW logo. Darby Allin endured serious double-team punishment. Mark Briscoe then entered to even the numbers but was quickly busted open. Nick Jackson followed, and The Young Bucks executed tandem moves on Team AEW members.

Anthony Bowens entered for Team AEW, targeting Nick and Matt Jackson. Bowens got real scissors and stabbed Jack Perry in the head, drawing “You Sick F*ck” chants from the crowd. Kazuchika Okada entered next, wielding a street sign marked “Rainmaker” to take out opponents.

Max Caster entered with a microphone, using it as a weapon and whipping people with his chain. He retrieved a barbed wire-wrapped board from under the ring, and The Young Bucks sent Bowens into it, followed by a senton, prompting “Holy Sh*t” chants from the audience.

Tacks were introduced next, as they were poured into Max Caster’s mouth while Perry held him. The Young Bucks then superkicked his tack-filled mouth. Hangman Page entered, targeting Swerve Strickland, but initially staying outside the ring. Team AEW used Hangman’s absence to gain an advantage.

Swerve Strickland made his way to the ring, only to be ambushed by Hangman Page with a chair. Hangman handcuffed Swerve to the outside of the cage, claiming the title should never have been Swerve’s. Matt Jackson threatened to fire Hangman if he didn’t enter the ring, so Page left Swerve handcuffed and joined the match.

Jeff Jarrett attempted to come down and unlock Swerve Strickland, but Brandon Cutler intervened. Billy Gunn created a distraction, allowing Cutler to take a guitar shot to the head from Jarrett. Despite the setback, the two babyfaces managed to unlock Swerve Strickland from the cage. Unable to enter through the door, Swerve used wire cutters to create his own entrance. He entered the match with a burst of momentum, fresh from his recovery after the beatdown from Adam Page.

Page and Swerve clashed when they met in the match until Darby Allin intervened to break them up. The match continued with all participants battling fiercely, leading to most of them selling on the canvas, many also bleeding. Strickland then grabbed a staple gun, intending to use it on Hangman Page, but Page countered by kicking him in the crotch.

Matt Jackson opened his AEW briefcase, revealing a collection of staple guns. Each member of Team Elite used their staple guns to attack Swerve Strickland, who stood back up, smiling. The fans chanted “You Sick F*ck” as the chaotic match continued.

In a critical moment, Hangman Page accidentally hit Kazuchika Okada with a Buckshot Lariat as Swerve Strickland evaded Team Elite’s attacks, continuing the relentless and brutal action in the ring. The Young Bucks stacked four tables on each other outside the ring as Nick Jackson climbed up, and then Anthony Bowens climbed up to meet him, only to take a brutal bump through those tables.

The match continued in the ring as Jack Perry laid on a table and Darby Allin scaled the side of the cage and then climbed like a jungle gym across the top of the structure to nail a move through the table. “Holy Sh*t” chants came out of the crowd after that in a big way. Then Briscoe handcuffed Jack Perry to the side of the cage inside the ring so he could take some unprotected kendo stick shots, but he wouldn’t quit. Then Briscoe nailed Perry with a chair shot to the head.

Attention in the match soon turned to Darby Allin as he grabbed a gas can and started covering Jack Perry with the liquid. They said on commentary that they could smell the fumes. Darby Allin told Perry that he’s going to light him on fire if he doesn’t quit. Matt Jackson gave Allin a TNT Title match against Perry at All In, and then he quit the match. Team AEW won the match, and they saved Jack Perry from getting set ablaze.
