The former WWE United States Champion, MVP, has been absent from live television for some time, sparking rumours about his potential departure from WWE this year.

While the Ballin Superstar is still listed on WWE’s internal roster, MVP’s contract is set to expire in mid-August. Despite this, there have been no discussions about a new deal, leaving his future with the company uncertain.

Amidst the exit rumours, MVP took to his Instagram to drop a photo from his return to WWE for the second time at the 2020 Royal Rumble, squaring off against Brock Lesnar. MVP revealed that he only came back for a one-off appearance for his son to watch him perform in a WWE ring.

With the onset of the pandemic era, MVP accepted the offer to become a WWE Producer and commentator for WWE Main Event. Following that, he became a regular fixture as an in-ring talent on WWE TV and signed a full-time talent contract, claiming to make history in his second coming.

“I came back so my baby boy could see “Daddy” in a WWE ring. “The Royal Rumble.” That’s all I wanted. A one off. I was ready to retire. Then, I received an offer to become a producer. The pandemic hit. I became a producer AND a commentator for Main Event. Next, they asked me to put the boots on and help out with TV during the “PC Era”. One episode of RAW, “MVP” was in NINE segments! Heyman agreed to put me and Roberto together. I signed a full time talent contract. And then we made history. What a ride!!!!”

However, with less than a month left on MVP’s contract that he signed back in the pandemic era, it seems likely he may explore opportunities in other promotions.

What are your thoughts on the reason that made MVP return to WWE for his second coming? Do you think it surpassed his first run in the company? Sound off in the comments!
