MJF is back to his roots as a full-blown heel and Will Ospreay bore the brunt of it AEW Dynamite last week, as MJF defeated him decisively. In fact, MJF has now claimed he will never wrestle Will Ospreay again.
As seen during the 250th episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF and Will Ospreay took each other to the limit in a near-60 minute epic match for the AEW International Championship, which had all kinds of insane spots and drama for fans to sink their teeth into.
When all was said and done, it was the Salt of the Earth who prevailed over The Aerial Assassin as he hit Ospreay with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to become the new AEW International Champion.
While speaking on The Wrestling Classic podcast, MJF was asked if he wanted to square off against Will Ospreay again, this time in London at Wembley. MJF questioned why he would wrestle someone like Will Ospreay again after having defeated him so decisively and quickly.
MJF expressed that if anyone suggested such a match, he could not see it happening. He stated that his focus is now on making his current title the most significant in professional wrestling. Once that goal is achieved, he plans to pursue becoming a double champion.
“Why would I wrestle a guy [Will Ospreay] I beat so handedly? I literally beat him in record time. I mean, who? I don’t know. If somebody tries to pitch that to me, there’s no reality where that match is happening again. I beat him, I now have this title, and I’m going to make this title mean more than any title that exists in all professional wrestling. Then, once I’m done doing that, I intend on becoming a double champion.”
Will Ospreay also made it abundantly clear he would speak to Tony Khan after MJF used unfair means to win the match. Regardless, only time will tell if Will Ospreay and MJF will ever square off against each other again.
