Mark Henry joined AEW in 2021 as a coach and other backstage roles after being disappointed with the lack of an executive role offered to him by WWE. However, in the three years since then, Henry didn’t end up doing a lot in the company and eventually left this year. However, Henry admitted he told Vince McMahon he was going to go to AEW to beat WWE in ratings.

The World’s Strongest Man previously confirmed he would not be re-signing with Tony Khan’s company and since then, he made a shocking appearance at MLW’s Battle Riot VI event and kept himself busy with other endeavors.

While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mark Henry recalled telling Vince McMahon of his plans before going to AEW. He explained that he told Vince McMahon he would be working to improve AEW and compete directly with WWE in the ratings.

Vince McMahon acknowledged this intention, and their discussion ended amicably without any disputes. Henry viewed this experience as a valuable lesson about the changing nature of professional relationships and career opportunities.

“I told Vince, I said, ‘Hey, man, I’m gonna over there and try to make that place better, and kick your ass in the ratings.’ (laughs) And Vince is like, ‘I know you are.’ And it wasn’t like there was an argument or fussing or fighting. We ended on good terms, and I thought that was a lesson that a lot of people need to learn. Everything has seasons.”

Mark Henry also recently clarified whether he has heat with WWE over his WWE move, making it clear that was not the case at all. We’ll have to see where Mark Henry ends up next in the world of professional wrestling, especially since he is open to making his WWE return.
