WWE RAW on July 22 included many newsworthy moments. The Judgment Day were called “street trash” by GUNTHER and the night also included segment where Dominik Mysterio ripped into Liv Morgan with a promo that needed translation. Those weren’t the only notable moment, because Xavier Woods also snapped a very long streak that night.

The New Day has been a dominant force in WWE since 2016, winning multiple championships. Kofi Kingson, Big E, and Xavier Woods had a ton of fun during that time and WWE has continued with that branding to this day. However, their dynamic has changed in recent years due to Big E’s absence and now with Kofi’s recent injury hiatus.

Big E has been sidelined since March 11, 2022, after suffering a neck injury on WWE SmackDown when he took a German Suplex from Ridge Holland at ringside that halted his in-ring career. Big E fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae, but he did not need surgery. At this point, his in-ring return to the ring remains uncertain.

Since Big E’s injury, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have continued to compete as a tag team on both SmackDown and Raw. However, this changed on the latest episode of Raw when Woods teamed up with Otis and Akira Tozawa in a six-man tag team match, which they lost to The Final Testament.

WWE Stats brought up the fact that this match on the July 22 episode of WWE RAW was the first time in a decade that Woods competed in a tag team match without Big E and/or Kingston as his partners.

“It has been 10 full years since @AustinCreedWins competed in a @WWE tag team match without at least one member of The New Day as a partner. Back in July of 2014, he teamed up with @RonKillings to take on the Wyatt Family on WWE Main Event.

If fans thought it looked strange to see Woods teaming with someone other than a New Day member, they were right to feel that way. The last instance of Woods teaming with someone other than his New Day partners was on WWE Main Event, where he teamed with R-Truth.

We will have to see what happens in the future, but the Final Testament certainly needed a win on RAW this week. That is exactly what happened as Xavier Woods’ first match in years without a New Day member by his side resulted in a loss where he took the pinfall.

What’s your take on Xavier Woods teaming with someone other than the New Day? Could the faction use new members at this point? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
