During the July 15 episode of WWE RAW, Jey Uso expressed excitement over the possibility that Rhea Ripley might be single after she distanced herself from Dominik Mysterio. This led to potential romantic angle, as Jey Uso invited Ripley to join him at a Waffle House, suggesting she deserved better and that he intended to take things slow. He even encouraged her to call him.

This storyline twist became a point of contention in the following week’s RAW episode on July 22. An awkward interaction unfolded between Ripley and Mysterio, with Ripley reassuring Mysterio that he had nothing to worry about, indicating her lack of romantic interest in Uso.

Rikishi, on his podcast “Rikishi Off The Top,” voiced strong criticism regarding how WWE is managing Jey Uso’s storyline. He expressed concern over the confusing narrative directions and the potential real-life implications of such a storyline for Uso. Rikishi specifically criticized the plot involving Uso and a character named Mami, labeling it as poorly conceived and potentially harmful to Uso’s marriage.

“I have hair on the back of my neck (standing up) every time I watch him. SummerSlam, where is he? ‘I don’t know, let’s write him in, he likes Mami.’ That’s the best the writer’s got? ‘Let’s write him into a relationship with Mami’, what y’all trying to do, break his marriage up?

“You can’t put him into a good storyline so what you gonna do now? God forbid you guys try to tell them to tongue kiss each other on WWE Raw. S**t that better not happen.”

As of now, Rhea Ripley has patched things up with Dominik Mysterio, effectively leaving Jey Uso out of the storyline. As WWE heads towards SummerSlam, it remains to be seen how they will redirect Uso’s character. Fans, particularly those echoing Rikishi’s concerns, are hopeful that WWE will steer clear of any controversial romantic angles involving Uso and Ripley.
