Sting and Darby Allin successfully defended their AEW Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution. Joining them on this significant occasion were Sting’s sons, with it being revealed that Steven Jr. is currently training with Darby Allin to pursue a career in professional wrestling. His journey in the ring, however, is just beginning and has a long way to go.
Darby Allin recently shared that Steven, a former football player and Sting’s son, has been living at his house and training to become a professional wrestler. Allin revealed that Steven was even sleeping in a tent pitched in his front yard. Although Steven hadn’t initially considered a wrestling career, his experience at AEW Revolution sparked his interest in training. Allin recounted how he discussed the idea with both Sting and Steven, eventually inviting Steven to train with him. To facilitate this, Allin has installed a wrestling ring at his home.
While speaking in an interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx, Darby Allin shared an update on Steven. He mentioned that Steven is still training and continues to practice in a tent set up in Darby’s front yard. Darby emphasized the importance of taking their time with Steven’s development to avoid any perceptions of favoritism or rushing him into the ring before he’s fully prepared. He wants to ensure that Steven is ready to make a strong first impression when he eventually steps into the ring.
“He’s still training. He stays outside in the tent in my front yard. And then yeah, it’s still coming. Definitely want to take our time with that and not rush anything. Because we don’t want it to look like, ‘Oh, Sting’s son’s getting a handout and we’re just going to rush him in there and this guy sucks really bad in the ring.’ No, we want to make sure he’s ready to rock, you know, whenever he steps foot in the ring you only get one shot at a first impression.”
Steven had previously stated that he hadn’t planned to follow in his father’s footsteps into wrestling. However, the emotional high from AEW Revolution seems to have sparked a new interest in the sport. While his future in professional wrestling remains uncertain, Steven is clearly taking his training seriously. Only time will reveal whether he will become a successful wrestler like his father.
