Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has recently discussed the prospect of making a comeback to the UFC.
In a conversation with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Rousey touched on the subject of returning to the Octagon. She expressed gratitude for the continued interest in her career, stating, “I appreciate when people ask. Maybe it means they still miss me.”
However, she noted the challenges of a potential return, emphasizing her current priorities: “If I could, I definitely would. But I have dreams of having a large family, and I can’t afford more detours. I’ve always envisioned myself as a mother to many children.”
Rousey, who retired from mixed martial arts in 2016 following consecutive defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, has spoken openly about the physical toll of her UFC tenure, including multiple concussions.
Post-retirement, Rousey made a notable entry into WWE in 2017, quickly rising to prominence by winning the Raw Women’s Title and headlining WrestleMania 35 with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Her subsequent WWE stint concluded after a loss to Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam in a match under MMA rules.
Now fully embracing motherhood, Rousey has ventured into new creative territories. She recently sold her inaugural screenplay to Netflix and is preparing for the release of her graphic novel, “Expecting The Unexpected,” on July 25. The novel, a collaboration with AWA and acclaimed comic artist Mike Deodato, Jr., features a pregnant hitwoman battling assassins to protect her unborn child.
While fans may yearn for her return to the Octagon, Rousey is clear about her priorities, focusing on family and creative pursuits over the physical demands of combat sports. It remains to be seen if the former WWE Superstar steps back into the octagon once again. Ringside News will keep you update if any other information regarding her UFC return becomes available.
