The wrestling community was baffled by the abrupt departure of Scott D’Amore from the role of TNA President. He was such an important figure in the promotion and it appears D’Amore is making strides when his new pro wrestling venture after his TNA firing.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment Inc. created tension in the wrestling community by naming Anthony Cicione as the new President of TNA Wrestling, displacing the long-serving President Scott D’Amore. D’Amore’s departure signaled the conclusion of an era during which he played a crucial role in steering TNA through numerous changes and challenges.
As previously reported, a trademark for “Maple Leaf Wrestling” was filed earlier this year and the address listed for the filing matches the corporate address of Scott D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling promotion.
PWInsider reports that Maple Leaf Wrestling has applied to trademark “Maximum Pro Wrestling” and “Max Pro.” The trademarks are intended to cover a broad range of entertainment and merchandise purposes. This includes entertainment related to wrestling contests, exhibits, and performances by professional wrestlers and entertainers, as well as live and televised appearances by these figures.
The trademarks will also cover providing wrestling news and information online, as well as online interviews with wrestling and sports entertainment personalities for entertainment purposes. In terms of merchandise, the trademarks would apply to items such as hats, shirts, socks, bandanas, sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts.
Maximum Pro Wrestling, which was based in Ontario, operated from 2010 to 2012. It is also to be noted that Scott D’Amore was one of its owners, so it is clear he is setting up something big.
Scott D’Amore is also allegedly being paid to stay at home till early next year. Therefore, it remains to be seen what steps D’Amore will continue to take in the coming months, as it is certainly he is planning something big for next year.
