Kenny Omega’s eagerly awaited tag team partnership with Chris Jericho for the AEW World Tag Team Championships was disrupted by his struggle with diverticulitis, a severe medical condition that necessitated urgent surgery. Following the procedure, an update on Omega’s recovery progress has emerged, shedding light on his path to return.
On the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kenny Omega made his first appearance since December. He talked about his recovery from diverticulitis before The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, launched surprise attack and he was written off AEW television.
Kenny Omega would then undergo surgery for his condition and is currently on the road to recovery. Naturally, fans are now wondering when Kenny Omega will be able to make his in-ring return.
While speaking on Fightful Select’s Backstage Report podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about Kenny Omega’s in-ring return status. He reported that Omega needs to recover, get in shape and then train for an in-ring return as well.
”Heard he would need to get in shape, get into ring shape and then get ready for a return. Then at the time of the scope, his return wasn’t interment.”
Omega also hinted at potential reinvention of his persona upon his return to the ring, indicating a desire for change in his gimmick. Regardless, we will have to wait and see when The Best Bout Machine will make his triumphant return to AEW television, as fans really miss him.
