Pro wrestlers risk injury every time they step in the ring. Skye Blue’s name has gone viral for many reasons during her AEW career, but now she is getting attention for something she never wanted, because she is injured.

AEW is currently managing a series of injuries among its talent, including Jay White, Dalton Castle, and now, Skye Blue. Those injuries came at terrible times for each star in question, and now we know how bad Blue’s injury is.

Blue was injured during AEW Collision on July 20 in her match against Hikaru Shida. The match was halted early when Blue could not continue. The injury occurred when Shida executed a high crossbody on the outside, landing awkwardly on Blue’s legs. The referee checked on Blue and called for the doctor, leading to a commercial break. Upon returning from a word from their sponsors, it was announced that Shida won the match via referee stoppage.

Bryan Alvarez later confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that she suffered a broken ankle. This is not the kind of news that any AEW fan wanted to hear, because a break means even more time on the sidelines.

“Yeah, but like a minute in, Shida went for a crossbody off the middle rope to the outside. And they had a weird landing. And Sky broke her ankle. And they immediately ended the match and got her out of there. And so now Shida will be facing Britt Baker coming up on Wednesday (AEW Dynamite).”

Blue’s boyfriend, Kyle Fletcher, shared on social media on Sunday that Blue was in a cast. He said that they got her home, and now he’s on the clock as her personal doctor. Of course, Fletcher isn’t a listened medical professional, but he will certainly help Skye Blue out. He also included a photo of his girl holding a Monster energy drink while flipping the bird for the camera. She doesn’t seem very happy with her current circumstance.

We’re sending Skye Blue our best as she recovers from this ankle injury. You never know when something can happen that takes a wrestler out of action, even one who has the kind of momentum that Blue was enjoying.

Will you miss Skye Blue on AEW television? Do you think she will come back better than ever? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
