The July 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW saw the return of CM Punk for the first time since costing Drew McIntyre a chance to become World Champion at WWE Money in the Bank. Punk announced that he had been medically cleared by his surgeon and immediately called out his rival for a fight. The Scottish Warrior stormed down in anger but declined Punk’s offer. Undeterred, Punk charged toward him, only to be stopped by WWE officials.

Adding to the tension, The Scottish Warrior mocked Punk by flaunting a bracelet he had taken weeks before. This prompted General Manager Adam Pearce to make their match official for WWE SummerSlam.

However, Pearce made things more interesting by revealing Seth “Freakin’” Rollins as the Special Guest Referee for their bout. Rollins came out, leaving both McIntyre and Punk stunned and the segment ended with Rollins celebrating while Punk and McIntyre faced off intensely.

Following that, Drew McIntyre took to his X to resurrect his previous comment from WrestleMania time of labelling Seth Rollins, once again, as a spotlight junkie who is just not able to keep himself away from the top feuds to remain relevant.

“Spotlight Junkie Seth Rollins stay out of a hot feud challenge * IMPOSSIBLE *.”

Moreover, next week on RAW, a special referee instructions segment is announced featuring all three men, adding another intriguing layer to the long-standing and heated rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.
