Skye Blue’s journey in AEW has been truly impressive, as she has considerably improved over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, her momentum has been halted by an injury and now unseen footage of Skye Blue after her injury has surfaced.
During the July 20th episode of AEW Collision, fans were excited to see Hikaru Shida square off against Skye Blue in singles competition. What seemed like a normal match turned into a disaster in the end.
Following a dramatic suicide dive by Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue suffered a concerning fall, landing awkwardly on her leg and hip. Ringside officials quickly intervened to assess the situation. The match was stopped as they attended to Skye, concluding she couldn’t continue due to injury. As a result, Hikaru Shida was declared the winner.
As seen by footage making rounds online, Skye Blue was seen being held to the back by ringside officials, as she was clearly in considerable pain and couldn’t put any weight on her right ankle.
AEW President Tony Khan also took to Twitter and commented on Skye Blue’s condition, revealing that she suffered an ankle injury and was being evaluated by doctors to learn the severity.
”Thank you all watching Saturday Night #AEWCollision tonight, right now on @TNTdrama ! Our previous match was stopped + @shidahikaru was declared the winner, due to an ankle injury to @Skyebyee . Skye Blue is being evaluated now by the Doctors; we’re all wishing her the very best.”
This is certainly unfortunate news for fans of Skye Blue, as she was just gaining back momentum and fans just wanted to see her pick up more victories along the way. Regardless, we’ll have to see just how severe the ankle injury is and whether she will have to miss out on significant in-ring time as a result of the injury.
