With Chad Gable’s WWE contract nearing its end, fans were eager to see what his next move would be. Ultimately, Gable decided to re-sign with WWE, much to the delight of his supporters, especially as his current character resonates more with Kurt Angle than ever. Despite this, Kurt Angle himself believes that Gable shouldn’t be compared to him.
Chad Gable has often been compared to Kurt Angle because of their similar backgrounds in amateur wrestling and Olympic competition. There were even rumors that Gable might be cast as Angle’s on-screen son, but WWE ultimately selected Jason Jordan for that role.
Randy Orton recently claimed that Chad Gable is not the next Kurt Angle, stating that Gable is his own Superstar. While speaking on the Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle responded to Orton’s remarks, expressing admiration for Gable’s progress.
Angle acknowledged that while being compared to him was a significant compliment, Gable has now distinguished himself as his own person. He praised Gable’s growth and unique energy, affirming that Gable has earned his own recognition and is no longer just considered the next Kurt Angle.
“[Chad’s character has] developed incredibly well. I just love Chad. He has such a great energy about him, great attitude. When they said, ‘You’re the next Kurt Angle,’ he took it. He said, ‘I’m proud to be the next Kurt Angle. That’s a great compliment.’ But I think Randy’s right. He’s earned his own stripes. I believe that he’s done enough of his own stuff that now he is labeled as Chad Gable. He’s no longer the next Kurt Angle. He’s Chad Gable, and he’s gonna show the whole world what he can do.”
We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to develop Chad Gable in the coming weeks, as he is currently preoccupied with The Wyatt Sicks. No matter what, Kurt Angle will always be proud of what Gable has accomplished on his own in WWE and that’s all that matters.
