AEW has been hyping the debut of a new character, Hologram, who made his first appearance on the July 20 episode of AEW Collision. The backstage reaction to Hologram’s debut has now been revealed, with notable praise for his performance and presentation.
AEW put a lot of effort into Hologram’s presentation, aiming to be “technologically ambitious” with this gimmick. The vignettes leading up to his arrival made it clear the company was all in on Hologram as well.
Hologram’s true identity was revealed to be former AAA star Aramis. The masked luchador made a memorable debut with a striking entrance, wearing a bright green vest and surrounded by blue lights and smoke, engaging the 1,200 fans in attendance with a stunning light show. He faced off against Gringo Loco, providing Hologram with a prime opportunity to showcase his skills as he would pick up the win as well.
Fightful Select reports that Hologram received considerable praise following his debut, with significant recognition also going to Gringo Loco for his role as Hologram’s base during the match. Hologram is now officially signed to AEW, while Loco remains unsigned.
Loco and Aramis have collaborated numerous times over the years. Regarding the “technologically ambitious” aspects of Hologram that were previously mentioned, there are additional plans in store for him.
Interestingly enough, even Fuego Del Sol addressed fans who mistook him for Hologram. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how Hologram will continue to be booked in the coming weeks, as it’s quite evident that AEW has big things planned for him.
