The Motor City Machine Guns are still one of the most cherished tag teams in pro wrestling today, and their recent departure from TNA earlier this year has sparked considerable intrigue. Amid growing speculation about a possible move to WWE, Alex Shelley recently dropped a hint about the team’s future.
After their departure from TNA, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley have been in discussions with both AEW and WWE over the past few months. AEW President Tony Khan has openly expressed his desire to bring the Machine Guns to AEW.
The situation took a new turn when the Motor City Machine Guns appeared to say farewell to the independent circuit recently but they are still scheduled for another indie date. As previously reported, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley are expected to be making their way to WWE.
On July 20th, Alex Shelley spoke to the audience at West Coast Pro Wrestling and dropped a ‘spoiler alert’ on his future, hinting that he might not return in the future. He reassured fans that if he does not come back, the future of professional wrestling is secure within the West Coast Pro ring. Shelley expressed his gratitude to the crowd for their support over the past two and a half years.
“Spoiler Alert, I might not come back here. And if I don’t, I know the future of pro wrestling is safe and sound within the West Coast Pro ring. The last thing I wanna say is thank you so much for the last two and a half years.”
The Motor City Machine Guns are scheduled to appear on August 18 in London, ONT, for Smash Wrestling, where they will face Evil Uno and Stu Grayson at the Music Hall. Nonetheless, all signs point towards them joining WWE, so we’ll have to see when that will happen.
