AEW is truly a very diverse company with loads of talent from all over the world, incorporating several kinds of pro wrestling and this includes luchadors. In fact, AEW’s purpose for their heavy usage of luchadores during the latest Arlington show has been revealed.
The July 20 episode of AEW Collision took place at the eSports Arena in Arlington, TX and even the latest set of ROH television tapings were held at the same venue as well, which is all part of AEW’s current tour for the Summer, as multiple shows will be held at the venue.
Both AEW Collision and ROH last week featured an influx of luchadores, as Hologram made his triumphant in-ring debut on Collision. As for the ROH tapings, Fuego Del Sol, Komander and more competed in a solid match as well.
According to a report by Fightful Select, it was noted that AEW’s decision to feature a strong Lucha Libre presence at the Arlington shows was aimed at more effectively penetrating that market.
We will have to wait and see whether AEW’s strategy for penetrating the market will end up proving to be a beneficial business decision for the company in the long run, as fans do want them to succeed.
