AEW has quite a few talented names as in-ring workers but veterans that are not professional wrestlers work there as well. With that said, it appears one AEW personality has confirmed they work at a Trader Joe’s grocery store.
Tony Chimel started his WWE career as a ring technician before transitioning to an announcer role in 1991. He eventually became the iconic voice of Friday Night SmackDown. However, his unexpected release from WWE in 2020 stunned fans.
While speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle podcast, Tony Chimel shared insights from his wrestling career and discussed his current professional activities. Chimel revealed that he now works full-time at Trader Joe’s, a job he genuinely enjoys.
Chimel also mentioned that he continues to work with AEW a few times each month, which allows him to stay connected to the wrestling world without the extensive travel he experienced in the past. Chimel expressed satisfaction with his current roles, appreciating the balance they provide between his work at Trader Joe’s and his involvement in wrestling.
“My main job now is I work at Trader Joe’s grocery store…I love that place and I love working there. I also work for AEW a couple times per month. I love working there as well. That still keeps me a little bit on the wrestling scene and a little bit on the road and stuff like that. I don’t travel the way I used to which I’m very happy about because I don’t want to. I love both gigs now that I’m doing.”
Tony Chimel also recently called out WWE for using his voice despite firing him. Regardless, Tony Chimel is clearly happy with his current situation working at Trader Joe’s as well as AEW, and that is all that matters to him.
