TNA is preparing for their next pay-per-view, Slammiversary, which is anticipated to be a standout event from beginning to end. However, it appears that travel delays are impacting some of the talent, causing a few to still be en route to the venue.
The 20th edition of Slammiversary is set to take place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the 4,100-seat Verdun Auditorium on Saturday, July 20th and is headlined by a six-man elimination match for the TNA World Championship.
As previously reported, a recent global technical failure grounded thousands of US flights, causing widespread disruptions including stranded passengers, canceled medical procedures, and interrupted 911 services. Despite a cybersecurity firm’s assurance that it was not a security incident or cyberattack, the problem paralyzed airlines, banks, state agencies, and emergency services worldwide. By Friday afternoon, more than 2,700 flights had been canceled and 9,000 delayed, impacting many professional wrestlers as well.
Fightful Select reports that many wrestlers encountered travel issues getting into town for Slammiversary. As of this morning, a few talents had yet to arrive but remained hopeful. Some wrestlers ended up driving in and arrived in the early hours of the morning due to flight cancellations that forced others to make the journey from NYC by road.
A last-minute change was also made to the Slammiversary card today, which might have been due to travel issues as well. Regardless, we hope every other talent will be able to make it in time for the Slammiversary pay-per-view somehow.
