Since its inception in 2019, AEW has emerged as a formidable challenger to WWE’s long-standing dominance in the U.S. pro wrestling scene. Fans and industry veterans have often compared AEW to WCW and now Mercedes Mone has bragged about AEW Dynamite lasting for over five years despite many claiming the company would never survive.
Despite delivering high-quality matches and engaging storylines across its three weekly shows, AEW has faced scrutiny over recent declines in viewership and live attendance. This has led to speculation about a potential downturn for the company, echoing concerns reminiscent of WCW’s trajectory.
The July 17 episode of AEW Dynamite was the 250th edition of Dynamite and it was truly a night of memorable moments and incredible matches. Obviously there were a lot of things fans loved about the show.
In a recent edition of her newsletter, The CEO reflected on the excitement surrounding the 250th episode of Dynamite. She bragged about the significance of the achievement, noting that the show is on track to surpass WCW’s flagship program, Monday Nitro, which aired a total of 288 episodes.
“I was looking forward to Dynamite 250. This is a really big milestone for AEW as we are so close to surpassing WCW records in terms of being around when a lot of people said that we weren’t going to survive.”
We have also reported the significance of the ratings for the July 17th edition of AEW Dynamite on AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery’s media rights deal negotiations. Nonetheless, AEW is here to stay for the foreseeable future and that is all Mercedes Mone truly cares about.
