Mark Henry’s debut at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in 2021 garnered significant attention. However, in the three years since then, some have voiced opinions that he didn’t achieve much within the company and he ultimately departed the promotion. With that said, Henry has now clarified if he has heat with WWE for joining AEW.

The World’s Strongest Man previously confirmed he would not be re-signing with Tony Khan’s company and since then, he made a shocking appearance at MLW’s Battle Riot VI event as well.

While speaking to Forbes, Mark Henry addressed whether there was any animosity between him and WWE when he left for AEW. He clarified that there was no ill will. He had a discussion with Vince McMahon, during which he expressed his desire to be hired by WWE. McMahon explained that there were other candidates for the positions Henry was interested in and felt it would be seen as favoritism to offer him one of those roles without him having the necessary experience.

Henry decided to leave to gain that experience. During their conversation, he mentioned, “I’m going to kick your ass,” to which McMahon responded affirmatively, acknowledging Henry’s hard work. McMahon also assured Henry that WWE would likely be eager to bring him back in the future.

“Not at all. I had a conversation with Vince and I wanted WWE to hire me, and he said that we have people that have applied for the jobs that you are applying for, and he felt like it would show favoritism to give me one of those jobs. And I hadn’t put the work in to receive one of those jobs, so I had to leave to get that experience. And I told him, I was like, “You know, I’m going to kick your ass.” And he was like, “I have no doubt whatsoever, and I know how hard you work.” And he said, “When the day comes, I’m sure that we’ll be the first ones trying to get you back.”

WWE was also urged to hire Mark Henry following his AEW release. It remains to be seen where Mark Henry ends up next in the world of professional wrestling, especially since he is open to making his WWE return.
