WWE NXT star Tatum Paxley has been known to be a highly unusual and captivating in-ring competitor in the Black and Gold brand. Recently, Paxley shared the origins of her Psycho Trap finishing move, revealing that it wasn’t initially intended to be called that.

Tatum Paxley has been using the Psycho Trap as her finisher since October 2023, debuting it on NXT Level Up. During a recent Twitch stream with her real-life partner Javier Bernal, the NXT star revealed that the finisher’s name was inspired by the horror movie Saw.

Originally, it was meant to be named after a specific trap from the film. Paxley explained that the move was initially called the Cycle Trap, based on the spiralling blades trap in Saw.

“The Cycle Trap from Saw is the saw trap that the kid got lowered into, and it had spiraling blades – that’s called the Cycle Trap.”

Paxley further stated that there might have been an assumption that she would have called it Psycho Trap, possibly due to her NXT character, but she clarified that she indeed called it Cycle Trap.

“And the funny thing is, I said, ‘I would like to call this the Cycle Trap’. And the assumption was obviously that I must have said ‘Psycho’. So, Psycho Trap, the name was then born from that. But I said Cycle. But Psycho Trap, heck yeah, love it.”

On the July 16 episode of WWE NXT, Paxley defeated Izzi Dame with the finisher, Psycho Trap. Additionally, on June 14, she also crossed the line and went on to face Jordynne Grace for the TNA Knockouts World Championship at Against All Odds but was unsuccessful in capturing the title. With her current run going on in NXT, the future seems bright for the captivating superstar, so it will be interesting to see her journey going forward.
