It’s Friday night, and you know what that means! WWE SmackDown will go down tonight, and Ringside News has got you covered with live play-by-play results coverage for the July 19, 2024 episode.

The show opens up with a video recapping what transpired last week between The Bloodline, Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and “The Viper” Randy Orton. Corey Graves and Wade Barrett then welcomes us to the show as “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his way down to the ring.
Cody Rhodes starts off by walking over to Boxer Terence Crawford in the front row and fist-bumping him. Rhodes then asks Omaha what they want to talk about, then says they could talk about Randy Orton. Rhodes then says he has the privilege of calling Orton both a friend and a mentor, then credits Orton for helping him become Undisputed WWE Champion. Rhodes then voices how guilty he feels about The Bloodline attacking Orton last week given that he has a family and a severe spinal injury. Rhodes then says family isn’t always blood and Orton is his family and his brother. Rhodes then says if Orton were in the ring with him, he wouldn’t want him to talk about the guilt and shame he feels. Rhodes then says Orton would want him to look ahead and in doing so, that means his SummerSlam Match against Solo Sikoa. Rhodes then recalls telling Sikoa he wasn’t ready at last year’s WrestleMania before he cost him the Undisputed WWE Championship that he now holds. Rhodes then asks Sikoa how it feels with him standing in the ring as champion while Sikoa isn’t.
A-Town Down Under then make their way down to the ring and Austin Theory says Rhodes is spending a lot of time talking about The Bloodline. Theory then complains about having a swollen cheek courtesy of Jacob Fatu and Rhodes questions if Theory has a swollen cheek because of Fatu or Grayson Waller. Waller then says Rhodes is pushing a narrative and blames him for Orton being attacked last week. Rhodes then attacks Theory and Waller, but both men overpower Rhodes. Waller then sends Rhodes out of the ring, but Terence Crawford hands Rhodes a chair. Rhodes then hits Waller with the chair and uses it to hit a Disaster Kick on Theory. Rhodes’ music then hit to end the segment.
Carmelo Hayes was then shown getting his hair worked on in a dressing room. Hayes says he will beat Andrade.
We then see Cody Rhodes walking backstage and he runs into SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Cody asks Aldis if he can take on Waller and Theory in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match later on tonight. Aldis says Cody has until the end of the night to find a partner.
We then get the entrances of the first match of the night, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Andrade hitting a shoulder tackle on Hayes, but Hayes responds with a hurricanrana. Andrade then lands on his feet and both men exchange forearms with each other. Andrade then hits Hayes with a boot, but Hayes responds with a springboard leg drop on Andrade as Andrade is draped through the middle rope. Andrade then nails Hayes with a clothesline. Hayes then delivers some right hands on Andrade, but Andrade responds with a series of open palm strikes and a couple of Dragon Screws on Hayes. Andrade then follows it up with a meteora on Hayes in the corner and goes for a pin, but Hayes kicks out. Hayes then hits a tijeras on Andrade and places him on the top rope before he joins him up there. Andrade then pushes Hayes off and looks to hit a moonsault. Hayes then rolls out of the way, but Andrade lands on his feet and hits a standing moonsault. Andrade then goes for a pin, but Hayes kicks out. Hayes then nails Andrade with a knee on his head, but Andrade responds with a back elbow and goes for a pin, but Hayes kicks out. Andrade then climbs to the top and looks to fly, but Hayes hits him with a codebreaker and goes for a pin. Andrade then kicks out and Hayes climbs to the top. Hayes then looks for Nothing But Net, but Andrade moves out of the way and hits him with The Message for the win.

After the match, Andrade celebrated his win.
Highlights were then shown of 2024 WWE Queen of the Ring Nia Jax’s win over The O.C.’s Michin last week and the viscous beat down on WWE Women’s Champion Bayley after the match.
We then get a split screen interview with 2024 WWE Queen of the Ring Nia Jax and WWE Women’s Champion Bayley. Corey Graves starts off by thanking Bayley and Jax for joining him, then looks to ask Jax a question about challenging Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. Jax then cuts Graves off and declares she will dethrone Bayley on August 3. Jax then says she’ll put Bayley out of her misery like an “old, sick dog”. Bayley then tells Jax that she hasn’t changed in all the years she’s known her and Jax demands Bayley call her Queen Nia. Bayley then tells Jax she’ll call her what she wants and says Jax hasn’t changed. Bayley then says Jax took her out of her 2017 SummerSlam Match and Jax hurt her because she’s big, clumsy and reckless. Jax then says she’s content being Queen of the Ring and Queen of the SmackDown Women’s division. Jax then reiterates she will. dethrone Bayley at SummerSlam and Bayley says if Jax has changed so much since 2017, she has as well. Bayley then says she will walk in and out of SummerSlam as WWE Women’s Champion and Jax storms off.
We then head to the back and see Jade Cargill and “The EST Of WWE” Bianca Belair get into a verbal confrontation with Chelsea Green and Piper Niven about who gets to talk to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis first outside of his office. Belair then challenges Green to a match.
We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Green nailing Belair. Belair then returns the favor, but Green responds with an enzuigiri and looks to hit the Unprettier. Belair then escapes and hits a German suplex on Green, then looks to hit a springboard moonsault, but Green moves out of the way. Belair then gets Green on her shoulders and looks to hit the KOD, but Green escapes and rolls up Belair. Belair then reverses the pinfall for the win.

After the match, Belair and Cargill stare down Niven and Green, but Green pulls Niven out of the ring before anything happens. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn) then appear on the big screen and tell Belair and Cargill that they’ll consider giving them the WWE Women’s Tag Team rematch they’re looking for.
We then head to the back and see “The Mega Star” LA Knight make his way towards the ring for his contract signing with WWE United States Champion “The Maverick” Logan Paul.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis introduces “The Mega Star” LA Knight and WWE United States Champion “The Maverick” Logan Paul and they both make their way down to the ring.
Logan Paul starts off by asking Omaha why he would give Knight a shot at the United States Championship and Knight says while Paul thinks there’s no reason he should face him, he’s owned and cooked him every time they have come face-to-face. Knight then recalls their first meeting a year ago and says Paul has since become the United States Champion. Knight then says he can never take that away from Paul and says he’s the guy as long as he holds the championship. Knight then says breaking into Paul’s house, it allowed him to pin Paul in their Triple Threat Money in the Bank Qualifier which felt good.
Paul then tells Knight that he sounds pathetic and says Knight needs a match against him. Paul then tells Knight he doesn’t need to face him and says while Knight’s existence depends on the ring, his doesn’t. Paul then says Knight is good and he enjoys his gimmick, but Knight wants his accolades. Paul then says Knight will never get them because Knight doesn’t move like him and Knight is nothing like him. Paul then says Knight is a gym bro with a spray tan and a catchphrase pretending to be The Rock. Knight then says Paul is using old material and Paul is a fraud in WWE pretending to be a champion. Knight then tells Paul while his brother is able to face Mike Tyson, he can’t even face him. Paul then signs the contract and draws a map of where Knight can stick his dreams of becoming a WWE Champion. Paul and Knight then get in each other’s faces, but Aldis keeps them apart. Paul then exits the ring, but slides back inside and begins brawling with Knight. Knight then looks to hit the BFT on Paul, but Paul slides out of the ring before Knight can.
We then get a video package on 2024 Ms. MITB Tiffany Stratton.
“The Mega Star” LA Knight was then shown walking backstage and he runs into Legado Del Fantasma’s Santos Escobar. Escobar reminds Knight that he was in the match at MSG a few weeks ago and he did not get pinned. Knight says he has some free time and if Escobar wants to get in touch with him, Escobar’s mom has his number. Escobar then sets up a match between himself and Knight for next week.
We then get the entrances of the next match, which is a Singles Match.
The match starts off with Stratton nailing a hair whip on Michin. Michin then rolls up Stratton, but Stratton kicks out. Michin then hits a dropkick on Stratton and follows it up with a cannonball before Stratton rolls out of the ring. Michin then chases Stratton to the other side and Stratton hides behind Jax. Stratton then hits Michin with an Alabama Slam. Stratton then flies over the top rope to land on Michin. Stratton then follows it up with a handspring back elbow in the corner and a spinebuster, then looks to hit Michin with a second Alabama Slam. Michin then escapes and nails Stratton with a dropkick and a neckbreaker. Michin then follows it up with a Tornado DDT out of the corner and goes for a pin, but Stratton kicks out. Stratton then hits a forearm on Michin, then follows it up with a Hip Attack and a dropkick. Stratton then places Michin on the top rope, but Michin nails Stratton with a dropkick and runs the ropes looking to nail Stratton on the outside. Jax then grabs Michin’s ankle, opening the door for Stratton to hit Michin with a forearm. Stratton then looks to hit Michin with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever on the outside, but Bayley appears and captures Stratton’s attention. Jax then charges at Bayley, but Bayley sends Jax crashing into the timekeeper’s area. Bayley then grabs Stratton’s Money in the Bank contract and destroys it using the announce desk and the ring steps. Bayley then stomps on it as Stratton watches on. This then opens the door for Michin to roll up Stratton for the win.

After the match, Bayley returns the beat up briefcase back into the ring. Bayley and Michin then celebrates outside the ring.
The Bloodline were then shown in a dark room. Solo Sikoa says life is so good when you are The Tribal Chief. Sikoa then says life is also busy because of that as he doesn’t have a moment to himself. Sikoa then wonders who will step up and be Cody’s partner later, which will be disrespecting The Bloodline. Sikoa then says if you are on Cody’s side, you are against The Bloodline. Sikoa then says tonight better a handicap match or someone will pay the price.
The lineup for next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown is then announced.
Cody Rhodes was then shown walking backstage and Kevin Owens shows up. Owens says he will see Cody out there and Owens’ music hits and he makes his way down to the ring for the main event.
Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes then makes his way down to the ring next for the main event. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) then follows.
The match starts off with Rhodes and Theory. Owens tags in and hits a double right hand on Theory’s midsection with Rhodes. Owens and Theory then brawl on the outside, but Owens sends Theory back in. Rhodes then tags in and Theory hits a clothesline on him. Waller then tags in and hits a back elbow on Rhodes’ spine before Rhodes sends Waller crashing into the top turnbuckle face first. Owens then tags in and delivers some right hands and stomps on Waller. Owens then follows it up with an Atomic Drop and a right hand, then nails Waller with a cannonball and climbs to the top. Owens then goes for a Swanton Bomb, but Waller gets his knees up. Theory then tags in and hits a dropkick on Owens, then tags Waller back in. Theory then hits a backbreaker on Owens and Waller follows it up with an elbow drop off the middle rope.
Waller then tags in and hits a couple of elbow drops on Owens. Waller then jams his knee into the side of Owens’ head and prevents him from tagging in Rhodes. Waller then hits another elbow drop on Owens and both men teeter on the ropes before Waller delivers some forearms on Owens. Owens then responds with a series of right hands on Waller that sends Waller crashing off the ropes, then follows it up with a Swanton Bomb and tags in Rhodes. Theory then tags in and Rhodes delivers some right hands on his head. Rhodes then nails Theory with a clothesline and a scoop powerslam, then follows it up with the Bionic Elbow. Waller then makes the blind tag and Rhodes hits a Tornado DDT on Theory. Waller then blindsides Rhodes with a jumping flatliner, then tags in Theory. Rhodes then almost sends Theory crashing into Waller and Waller looks to hit a jumping knee on Rhodes. Rhodes then moves out of the way and Waller almost hits Theory. Theory then catches the knee, but Rhodes hits Theory with a Cody Cutter after Waller moves out of the way to avoid taking the move himself. Owens then hits a Stunner on Waller and Rhodes hits Theory with the Cross-Rhodes for the win.
The winners of the Tag Team Match, “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens and Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes!
After the match, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa make their way down to the ring. Rhodes hits a tope suicida on Tama and Sikoa as Loa gets Owens up on his shoulders. Owens then escapes and Rhodes sends Sikoa’s face bouncing off the announce desk. Rhodes and Owens then look to send Sikoa crashing through the. announce desk, but Jacob Fatu blindsides them. Fatu then hits a superkick on Owens and delivers some headbutts on him in the ring, then nails him with a series of Hip Attacks as Sikoa and Tonga force Rhodes to watch by holding him in place. Fatu then hits a headbutt on Owens off the top rope and The Bloodline sends Rhodes crashing through the announce desk with a Triple Powerbomb. The Bloodline then places a chair around Owens’ throat and sends him crashing into the ring post, standing tall while holding up the one hand gesture as the show comes to a close.
