The WWE Universe has witnessed the departure of several major stars this year, including Ricochet and Becky Lynch. With concerns growing about others potentially leaving, WWE has moved to secure key talent. While Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Chad Gable have signed new contracts, there was speculation that Natalya might be on her way out. WWE took action to ensure she stayed with the company, and they put up a ton of money to do so.
Natalya signed a new deal as her previous contract was nearing its end. WWE, wary of her possibly entering free agency, presented a lucrative offer to keep her on board.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Natalya’s new deal was finalized as her contract was about to expire. Sources close to the situation revealed that WWE recognized the risk of losing her and made a strong offer to retain her. This move was made months ago, and while WWE intended to announce it, the news surfaced beforehand.
Natalya, who has been with WWE for 17-and-a-half years, boasts the longest tenure of any woman in the company’s modern history. Only Randy Orton and The Miz have comparable uninterrupted longevity on the current roster.
WWE was keen to prevent Natalya from joining AEW or any other promotion. At 42, she remains a valuable asset to the business, and WWE has ensured her continued presence.
Natalya has not been seen backstage since signing her new deal. She might be taking a short break or could be held back for a strategic in-ring return. Regardless, she won’t be participating in AEW’s Owen Hart Cup tournament for the foreseeable future.
