CM Punk may be out of action with an injury, but that hasn’t kept him off television. Despite his ongoing feud with Drew McIntyre, he hasn’t wrestled. As he nears his return, he’s getting some help from an old friend and a TNA star.
After appearing on the July 16 edition of WWE NXT, Zachary Wentz of TNA Wrestling has been training with CM Punk. Wentz, who was Nash Carter in NXT, recently returned to the black and gold brand. On this week’s episode, Wentz, along with Wes Lee and Trey Miguel of The Rascalz, defeated Gallus in a six-man tag team match.
On July 19, Zachary Wentz shared photos on social media of his training session with CM Punk at Ace Steel’s wrestling school in Chicago. He included a caption expressing his longtime admiration for CM Punk.
“Got to train with @CMPunk last night at @acesofsteel School #TheFoundationOfProWrestling. Teenage me would be really, really pumped about this. (Current me is too).”
Lee then returned to TNA programming on the July 18 IMPACT, announcing that he will reunite with The Rascalz to face WWE NXT’s No Quarter Catch Crew this Saturday, July 20, at TNA Slammiversary.
CM Punk is currently recovering from a torn triceps injury he sustained during the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble. He’s been engaged in a personal feud with Drew McIntyre, and many fans are anticipating their match at SummerSlam. Punk is actively working to get his medical clearance for his return to the ring.
