With WrestleMania 40 now concluded, WWE fans are eagerly looking forward to the next major event on the calendar: SummerSlam. Scheduled for Saturday, August 3rd, at the iconic Cleveland Browns Stadium, SummerSlam promises a lineup of exciting matches. WWE has indicated they have no intention of altering their plans for a championship match at the event.

On the July 15 episode of Monday Night Raw, Ilja Dragunov faced Sami Zayn for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The match ended in Dragunov’s victory by disqualification when Bron Breakker interfered. Despite Zayn’s efforts to counter Breakker, Bron stood tall over both competitors as the episode concluded.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s current plan is still for Sami Zayn to defend his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker in a singles match at SummerSlam.

This plan remains unchanged despite Ilja Dragunov recently entering the Intercontinental Championship scene and securing disqualification wins over both Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker.

“It’s still Sami Zayn and Bron Breaker for the show.”

We will have to wait and see whether Bron Breakker will end up defeating Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event on August 3rd, as fans would likely be happy to see Breakker finally win championship gold on the main roster.
