Will Ospreay is one of the biggest names in AEW and remains a highlight of AEW television, but he ended up losing his International Championship to MJF on Dynamite this week and he has now broken his silence on the matter.
AEW Dynamite’s landmark 250th episode opened with a high-stakes match between MJF and Will Ospreay. The bout was a spectacle of dynamic moves and intense fan engagement. MJF utilized a range of submission holds to wear down Ospreay, while both paid homage to wrestling icons—MJF channeling Rick Rude and Ospreay embodying Ric Flair.
Despite Ospreay injuring his shoulder mid-match, he soldiered on, prompting chants of “Fight Forever” from the passionate crowd. The match spilled into the audience, where MJF’s antics drew controversy as he interacted with spectators, including a memorable moment involving a child and Ospreay. Back in the ring, the action intensified with near falls that had the audience chanting “This is Awesome.”
In the closing moments, Ospreay’s hesitation proved costly, allowing MJF to capitalize by using his Dynamite Diamond ring to secure a dramatic victory just as time ran out, crowning him the new champion.
The Aerial Assassin took to Twitter and broke his silence after his loss, as he uploaded a photo of MJF using the Dynamite Diamond ring on Ospreay and he blamed the ring for the loss as well. He also tagged Tony Khan and Christopher Daniels, making it clear he wants to talk to them about this decision.
”That f***** ring!!! @facdaniels & @TonyKhan we gotta have words.”
We will have to wait and see whether Will Ospreay will get a rematch against MJF in the future, as it is quite clear the Aerial Assassin is far from done with the Salt of the Earth as well.
