Swerve Strickland’s ascent in AEW has been remarkable, highlighting his outstanding in-ring skills and captivating charisma. As the current AEW World Champion, he shoulders a lot of responsibilities. With that said he did claim superiority over MJF after the latter’s AEW International Title win on Dynamite this week.
The big match between MJF and Will Ospreay kicked off AEW’s 250th episode. The match was full of exciting moves and crowd reactions. MJF used lots of submission holds to weaken Ospreay, and both wrestlers honored legends: MJF acted like Rick Rude, and Ospreay acted like Ric Flair.
Even though Ospreay hurt his shoulder during a move, he kept going, and the crowd chanted “Fight Forever” around the 30-minute mark. Near the end, MJF and Ospreay fought in the crowd. MJF gave a child the middle finger, and Ospreay encouraged the girl to slap him. Back in the ring, they had a close exchange of moves, making the crowd chant “This is Awesome.”
With less than a minute left, Ospreay hesitated before doing a Tiger Driver 96, which gave MJF the chance to push him into the referee. MJF then used his Dynamite Diamond ring to knock Ospreay down and win the match with one second left, becoming the new champion.
Swerve Strickland took to Twitter and reacted to MJF’s AEW International Championship win, as he claimed superiority over MJF by stating that it took him only 27 minutes to defeat Will Ospreay at AEW Forbidden Door, while it took MJF almost an hour.
”Took me 27 mins…”
We will have to wait and see whether MJF and Swerve Strickland will cross paths one day. In the meantime, the AEW World Champion is set to compete in the Blood & Guts match on AEW Dynamite next week, so we’ll have to wait and see how he will fare in the match.
