Jinder Mahal garnered significant attention earlier this year when he challenged for the WWE World Heavyweight Title on RAW. Despite his efforts, he did not secure the championship, and WWE released him in April. Rumors circulated about Brock Lesnar reportedly refusing to work with him. Mahal has now addressed these rumors.

On the November 7, 2017, edition of WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles ended Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship reign by defeating him and capturing the title. This unexpected turn altered the planned matchup for WWE Survivor Series, replacing the originally scheduled Brock Lesnar vs. Jinder Mahal bout with a new bout: Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles, as Survivor Series featured clashes between brand champions.

It was then rumored that Brock Lesnar outright refused to work with Jinder Mahal at the Survivor Series event, prompting Mahal to drop the title before Survivor Series, shocking fans.

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Jinder Mahal addressed rumors that Brock Lesnar didn’t want to work with him. Mahal stated that it was not accurate and believes Lesnar preferred a match with AJ Styles because their styles would have meshed better. Mahal pointed out that both he and Lesnar were villains, which wouldn’t have created much excitement. He acknowledged Lesnar’s match with AJ Styles as outstanding.

“The headline came out, ‘Brock Lesnar refused to work with Jinder.’ I don’t think he refused. I just think it was he probably pitched for a match with AJ because stylistically, it is a much better match. Me and Brock are both heels. Who’s gonna put heat on who? It was gonna be a flat match. It would have just been him suplexing me a bunch of times, maybe Singh Bros get involved. But the match he had with AJ was phenomenal.

I had it [the WWE Championship] for six months and I didn’t know that I was losing the championship until the day of. We were in Manchester and we have the title match. We get to the building. Michael Hayes tells me and AJ go talk to Vince, and send us to Vince’s office, Vince tells me you’re dropping the championship.”

As for Jinder Mahal, he is set for his first match since his WWE release this month, so he has lot to focus on. On the other hand, Brock Lesnar remains absent from WWE television and we have already reported that legal hurdles are currently preventing Brock Lesnar from returning to WWE television. Therefore, only time will tell when Lesnar will return to WWE, but at least Jinder Mahal has nothing against Lesnar.
