Tony Khan’s promotion, All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has hosted several stadium shows since its inception in 2019, and a recent report suggests another one is being planned.
The company has held significant events at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium and London’s Wembley Stadium, with the latter marking the highest attendance in AEW’s history in 2023 with their AEW All In event.
According to a report earlier this week, several individuals in the Dallas/Arlington area have indicated that AEW is planning a major event there in 2025. Sources hinted that this could be a stadium show on par with “AEW’s biggest event.”
It was further suggested that officials in the Dallas/Arlington area might announce the show by the end of the year. When speaking to ComicBook.com, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan addressed the speculation, stating that though the idea was appealing, they would not be looking to host such events in the immediate future.
Moreover, Tony Khan acknowledged that while they have not hosted any AEW pay-per-views, their sister promotion, Ring of Honor, and some of AEW’s TV episodes have been held in Texas. Khan concluded his statement that it would be fascinating to try out hosting a pay-per-view in Texas.
“It’s not something that we would be looking to do anytime in the immediate future,” Khan said. “But it is an exciting idea and something I think we absolutely could do and would be very interesting. I can’t comment on the accuracy of such reports or the immediate future, but we’ve had great shows over the years in Texas. We’ve never done an AEW pay-per-view in Texas. We’ve done a lot of Ring of Honor pay-per-views there, and some of AEW’s biggest TV episodes have been in Texas. But the one thing we’ve never brought is an AEW pay-per-view, and there’s a lot of demand for it. I think that would be fascinating for us to try.”
With AEW having a good attendance record for its television shows in Texas, it will be interesting to see if Tony Khan and the company would consider hosting a pay-per-view in their state in the future.
What are your thoughts on an AEW pay-per-view show in the state of Texas? Would it do good business for the start-up promotion? Sound off in the comments!
