The fall of WCW remains a hot topic within the wrestling community, with its demise attributed to various factors. In fact, Jeff Jarrett believes a WCW revival could be possible with a focused effort.

The ”Who Killed WCW?” docuseries was produced by Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions and the series premiered last month, which ended up bringing the death of WCW back into the forefront again.

While speaking on his My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast, Jeff Jarret talked about the idea of a WCW revival on Netflix. He acknowledged the strong emotional attachment fans like himself have to WCW but pointed out the challenges of reviving a brand that has been absent from television for 23 years. While the nWo merchandise continues to sell well, overall commercial success for WCW has been limited in recent years.

However, Jarrett noted the potential value in owning the intellectual property and extensive library of WCW. He highlighted the opportunity to connect with fans through nostalgic elements like the 83-week run and other historic moments. He believed that with a focused effort and new storytelling, a WCW revival on Netflix could be successful.

Reviving WCW on Netflix? As much as I would hope and want, and I could get emotionally invested in WCW on Netflix, the reality is that we are 23 years removed from the brand being on television. The nWo still sells a boatload of merchandise, but WCW hasn’t sold, to my knowledge, much of anything. A couple of retro shirts here and there, something to that effect. I just don’t see a tremendous value there, but with that being said, you own the IP, you own the library, and you have the ability to have multiple connective tissue, whether real relatives or whatever it may be, and you have a throwback of lineage that truly exists. There is a run of 83 weeks, you have all that kind of stuff. So could it work? With a focused effort? I think you could hit it out of the park, but I don’t think you need to rest on the laurels of the WCW that we knew in the 90s. It would have to be established and stories told and a real focus, and I’m not sure they would do that. But the short answer is yes, it could be done. I think it could be incredibly successful if it happened.”

Vince Russo also named those whom he believes were responsible for WCW’s death. Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely that WCW could ever be revived but stranger things have happened in the world of professional wrestling.
