After joining WWE a few years ago, Gable Steveson underwent training and participated in dark matches, but his television debut remained uncertain. Eventually, WWE released him. It appears that he told Kurt Angle he aspired to surpass him in the wrestling world.

Gable Steveson’s release from WWE was a long time coming for many fans, given his difficulty in connecting with audiences. Of course, he is now investing in an entirely different profession.

As reported earlier, Steveson made the jump to the NFL by signing with the Buffalo Bills and he will be playing as defensive line. He began his journey into the world of NFL last month and he is working hard as well.

While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle talked about Gable Steveson’s recent signing with the Buffalo Bills, expressing his lack of surprise due to Steveson’s exceptional athleticism. Angle compared Steveson to Brock Lesnar, pointing out Steveson’s impressive abilities and versatility, noting his agility and strength despite his 250-pound frame. Angle praised Steveson’s potential impact on the team, despite his lack of college football experience, and expressed confidence in Steveson’s immediate contribution.

“I’m not surprised. The kid’s a super athlete. You think Brock Lesnar is an athlete? This kid, he might be a little tad bit better athlete than Brock Lesnar. That’s very difficult for me to say. Especially for Brock’s size, he’s an incredible athlete. Him and Gable Steveson are, but this guy, I mean, he is so diverse. He’s fast, he’s athletic. I’ve seen him do backflips just standing there. He’s a 250-pound monster. For him to be able to do stuff like that, it’s just incredible. So I wasn’t surprised that he signed with the Buffalo Bills. I’m surprised they didn’t put him on the practice team for a little bit because he never played football before, at least not in college. But I think he’s gonna make a huge impact right away, I really do. It’s crazy, but he’s a one-in-a-lifetime individual, and that’s how I think of him.”

Angle also shared a personal anecdote about meeting Steveson. Steveson expressed admiration for Angle’s career but ambitiously stated his goal to surpass Angle’s achievements. Although initially taken aback by the bold statement, Angle wished Steveson good luck in his endeavors.

“I met him. He’s like, ‘Hey, Kurt Angle, I just want to tell you, I respect your career, and I want to be just like you.’ I was like, ‘Oh, thank you, Gable.’ He goes, ‘You know what? No, I want to be better than you.’ I was like, holy s***. [Laughs] What an a****** thing to say [laughs]. I said, ‘Well, good luck, man.”

Gable Steveson is also working hard as part of his training for Buffalo Bills. Despite his WWE exit, Gable Steveson is clearly dedicated to his new career path. It remains to be seen if he will achieve greater success in the NFL, as his WWE career didn’t meet initial expectations.
