WWE wants to capitalize on all potential revenue streams, including outside ventures involving their talent. Former WWE Superstars Mace and Mansoor shared their experiences and insights on this matter.
In a conversation with Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, Mansoor discussed the structure of WWE contracts, noting that they are now more comprehensive. Mace added that while the base pay is generous, it can limit earnings from outside projects.
“I think the downside is very generous, but it’s designed in such a way that if you are doing very well on the outside, then you kind of still get what you were going to get.”
During the interview, Mansoor humorously recounted his initial intent to criticize WWE, only to change his tone after receiving a royalties check. “I was ready to do the interview and bury WWE, but then the royalties check hit. I love the Fed,” he said, before singing, “It’s all about the Game and how you play it.”
Mace and Mansoor are now under contract with Tony Khan’s company, AEW or ROH, and it remains to be seen how they will be utilized. They are embarking on another significant journey in their pro wrestling careers.
