Drew McIntyre’s disdain for CM Punk is well-known, and he recently made his feelings clear once again. A post from WWE sparked memories and prompted McIntyre to voice his opinion.
WWE’s official shop tweeted CM Punk merchandise, including a Nexus shirt. Wade Barrett noticed and tagged Drew McIntyre in a tweet, expressing surprise and frustration: “A NEXUS shirt?! WTF is this BS? And who in the merch dept. is getting a slap this Friday? cc @DMcIntyreWWE”
McIntyre saw the tweet and couldn’t resist responding. He made it clear he wouldn’t be caught wearing a Nexus shirt, especially at this point in his career.
“I’d rather be seen wearing a Corre shirt than that shite.”
This comment is part of a long-standing pattern of McIntyre’s remarks about CM Punk. His latest tweet is another in a series of digs at the Second City Saint. WWE has been selling Nexus shirts for a while, because nostalgia brings in merchandise revenue, but it’s also very interesting that WWE featured it like this.
There was almost a match between McIntyre and Punk at SummerSlam, but McIntyre declined to play ball during the July 15 episode of WWE RAW. He is still technically suspended. It remains to be seen how their feud will develop, but a showdown at SummerSlam in Cleveland on August 3 is possible.
