The AEW Original, Dr Britt Baker, D.M.D, made her return to television programming at last month’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view from a lengthy hiatus after dealing with major health issues for almost year.

Since then, Baker has expressed her desire for a title shot against TBS & NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone, though Mone has shown no interest in the match.

However, before her return at Forbidden Door, Britt Baker had been absent from AEW programming since September 2023 due to herniated discs and a Transient Ischemic Attack.

During recent discussion with Renee Paquette on Close Up, Baker reflected on the importance of her time off for recovery. The former AEW Women’s World Champion stated that it helped her heal both physically and mentally. Moreover, her hiatus also helped her to rejuvenate as an in-ring performer after feeling stagnant and stale.

“It was time to let everything heal and just mentally, emotionally, get in tune with myself again because you do kind of lose yourself at some point. It felt like I was stale. I was stagnant with who I am as a performer, and I needed time away to be reinvigorated and to find myself again.”

With Britt Baker back in the mix, it is expected that she will face Mercedes Mone in a huge title match at AEW’s upcoming premier event next month in London, All-In, with the fans already excited to see this first-ever showdown between two of the top female in-ring competitors in the world.
