At AEW Forbidden Door, Britt Baker made surprising return to AEW television, marking her first appearance since September last year. While many thought the return was planned long in advance, it appears that is not the case.

Britt Baker would then reveal on the first episode of AEW Dynamite after her return that she suffered transient ischemic attack and that is a big reason why she was out of action for so long, on top of injuries.

While speaking to Renee Paquette on Up Close, Britt Baker talked about her return at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Baker revealed that the decision was finalized the night before, catching her off guard without any time to prepare. Despite the spontaneity, she appreciated the secrecy—no leaks, a rarity in wrestling.

At home with family, she felt scattered yet wouldn’t change a thing. Battling nerves, she kept her return under wraps even from close friends, fearing indifference due to AEW’s evolution beyond her. She summed up the experience as daunting but worthwhile, emphasizing the fear of rejection as more daunting than any actual rejection.

It all came together very last minute. It was cemented the night before. I didn’t have time to prepare anything. It was very off to the races. I wouldn’t change that because nobody knew. I was at home and with my family. It was very scattered, but I wouldn’t change anything about it. You don’t have to overthink it, it didn’t get leaked, which is so hard in wrestling. It’s so frustrating that everything gets spoiled. I didn’t tell anybody—none of my best friends. I was a nervous wreck. ‘They’re not going to care. No one is going to give a s***that I’m here because AEW has surpassed me.’ That’s such a horrible feeling. The fear of rejection is worse than the rejection itself.”

Britt Baker revealed harrowing details of her transient ischemic attack. Britt Baker also issued challenge to Mercedes Mone for match at AEW All In next month, so we’ll have to see how their feud progresses in the coming weeks, as DMD is back for good.
