Cody Rhodes made headlines with his surprising return to WWE, following a notable tenure in AEW. Recently, an AEW star has come to Rhodes’ defense regarding his latest comments about AEW.

While speaking in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cody Rhodes reflected on his tenure with AEW. Though initially reluctant to criticize the company, Rhodes admitted his departure was marred by “petty squabbles” behind the scenes, which he described as “terrible.”

Rhodes expressed dissatisfaction with how things ended and speculated that, over time, more stories would come to light, potentially altering the narrative significantly. Rhodes then noted how he wanted to be a babyface in AEW but fans wanted him to be a heel, adding that some fans wanted him out of the promotion.

“How AEW ended was terrible, really, and people are going to write books later on and these stories are going to get out there and then it’s going to be a whole new ballgame.

To certain fans from the AEW fandom, they need the story to be… They didn’t want me, they pushed me out..he was bad. They need that story. They need me to be the villain.”

Cody Rhodes’ comments about AEW ended up leading to a ton of backlash, as Rhodes was blasted on social media. AEW star QT Marshall took to Twitter and responded to a fan who told him to tell Rhodes to keep his mouth shut about AEW.

”Congratulations on your birthday champion, best wishes to you!!! Tell your best friend to keep his mouth shut when it comes to #AEW”

QT Marshall wasted no time defending Cody Rhodes, stating that people should stop asking Cody Rhodes about his time in AEW if they can’t handle his responses. He added that Rhodes’ responses were very politically correct and classy.

”Tell people to stop asking him about it. If you can’t handle his responses, don’t ask the questions. The responses he gives are some the most politically correct responses. He’s sitting on top of the opposition, and still keeps his responses classy.”

Cody Rhodes also made it clear that he will never cheer against AEW no matter what. Nevertheless, Rhodes may no longer want to comment on AEW considering all the backlash he received and perhaps that is for the best.
