At AEW Forbidden Door, Mercedes Mone and Stephanie Vaquer went out and had a classic singles match that impressed fans and critics alike. Vaquer lost the match but it appears AEW allegedly didn’t provide her with travel accommodations before the show.
Stephanie Vaquer dominated headlines this past week because of the fact that both AEW and WWE were interested in signing her after her performance at Forbidden Door and fans wondered where she would go.
Stephanie Vaquer ultimately signed contract with WWE and even ended up competing twice this past weekend as part of the live events in Mexico. A lot of factors played into her decision to sign with WWE as well.
While speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Sports reporter and Las Vegas Raiders’ radio announcer Harry Ruiz claimed that similar to CM Punk’s situation at All In in London last year, where no one was there to pick him up at the airport, there was no one to pick Stephanie Vaquer up for the Forbidden Door event at the UBS Arena in New York.
“I remember the CM Punk situation in London, where he wasn’t picked up from the airport and ended up taking the train. Yeah, I heard something similar happened with Vaquer and the Forbidden Door.
I heard that something similar to the CM Punk situation happened with Vaquer and the Forbidden Door. She wasn’t picked up from the airport, right? So, she ended up having to find her own way.”
Stephanie Vaquer was also allegedly contacted by Shawn Michaels just before AEW finalized a deal with her and she ultimately chose to sign with WWE. Nevertheless, it would be unfortunate if AEW truly didn’t accommodate Vaquer when it comes to transportation and perhaps that is a big reason why she didn’t sign with AEW.
