Cody Rhodes solidified his status as WWE’s next face at WrestleMania 40 by defeating Roman Reigns and winning the Undisputed WWE Championship in one of WWE’s most memorable main events at The Show of Shows.

On the road to WrestleMania 40, Rhodes was involved in a heated rivalry with not only Reigns but his iconic cousin, The Rock, who he also battled in a tag team match alongside Seth Rollins on Night 1 of WrestleMania.

During recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the current Undisputed WWE Champion admitted that he crossed the line while saying that The Rock had LDS during a promo directed at him. Rhodes claimed he felt off after coming backstage, citing his young fans as feeling icky at that very moment.

“I feel maybe I crossed the line. I did a promo where I said he had LDS. I feel like a lot of people liked the interview and got a nice round of applause when I came back through the curtain but it felt so off brand for me because we have so many young kids that I felt like this one guy is the guy that I’m gonna go to these lengths for and maybe that’s what makes this all click. This genuine animosity and smile at each other but probably deeply dislike one another. If he’s the one who’s gonna bring it out, it’s probably good TV but it did feel a little, I guess icky in the moment.”

As The Rock focuses on his endeavours outside WWE with Cody Rhodes claiming that the offer still stands for potential showdown, fans eagerly await to see if he will return to face Cody Rhodes, as hinted during his RAW appearance after WrestleMania 40.
