Cody Rhodes is the Undisputed WWE Champion and one of the most beloved babyfaces in all of pro wrestling, but there are many who feel he should turn heel and have compared him to Homelander from ‘The Boys.’ In fact, Rhodes has now addressed such comparisons.

In 2020, fans noticed that Cody Rhodes’ entrance jacket looked a lot like the character Homelander from “The Boys.” This turned into a running joke in the wrestling community, and Rhodes even mentioned it a few times. In July, Rhodes did a commercial for the new season of “The Boys,” and the show sponsored the recent Money in the Bank event.

While speaking in an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes said his robe is not based on Homelander. He said he loves “The Boys” and its cast, but his robe is actually inspired by military dress uniforms. It has scales and gold details, especially on his bigger robe with eagles, and his blonde hair adds to the look.

During his time in AEW, some fans thought he was pretending to be a good guy but was actually a bad guy, which led to the Homelander comparison. However, Rhodes clarified that Homelander is a terrible person and his outfit was never meant to copy the character.

“With all the love I have for The Boys and his performance as Homelander, the entire cast, and their production is first class., what a production. The robe is not based on it. The robe is based on military dress uniforms. It’s the little bit of scales, the gold are on my bigger robe that has the eagles and of course, the blonde hair and I think the AEW run where people thought I’m pretending to be a good guy but I’m actually a bad guy, which maybe it was what was happening? I think that’s where it really became is he’s gonna go full Homelander? Truthfully, Homelander the character is a terrible human being.”

Cody Rhodes has also addressed the possibility of future heel turn. Regardless, Rhodes clearly has fun with being compared to Homelander and that is all that matters to him at the moment.
