Tony Khan has gained significant attention for his passion and dedication to professional wrestling, establishing himself as an authentic fan and enthusiast of the sport. This genuine love for wrestling has resonated with fans. As the current owner of Ring of Honor, Khan’s booking has been closely watched. However, it appears that a former ROH owner has criticized him for the current state of the company.
The AEW President bought Ring of Honor back in 2022 and fans wondered what that would mean for the promotion. In the two years since then, Khan has produced several pay-per-views under the ROH brand and started a weekly television series as well.
Tony Khan previously boasted about his commitment to ROH talent in contrast to what WWE did with WCW talent back in the day. He is also determined to keep things fresh in ROH as well.
While speaking during John Arezzi’s Mat Memories from Madison Square Garden podcast, former ROH owner Cary Silkin talked about the company’s current state and called Tony Khan for just how badly it has been treated lately.
“Ring of Honor of that era tried to show some respect to professional wrestling. Sure we had some wacky stuff. Sure we had the the flippy dippy do was coming into fashion. The flippy dippy do was going on with Édouard Carpentier too…Ring of Honor, there was some good pro wrestling going on in that segment of it. Right now, Ring of Honor it’s like no one cares at all. I don’t care how much money Tony Khan has. It’s not being treated very well.”
It is to be noted that there are many ROH talent who are frustrated with how Tony Khan has been running the promotion. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if Khan will improve ROH eventually.
