Chad Gable Addresses Comparisons to Kurt Angle

Chad Gable’s WWE contract was expiring and fans wondered what he would end up doing next. Ultimately, he chose to re-sign with WWE and fans were happy about that fact, especially since his current character is closer to Kurt Angle than ever before. That’s exactly why he feels it is a true honor to being compared to Kurt Angle now and has addressed such comparisons recently.

Chad Gable has long been likened to Kurt Angle due to their shared backgrounds in amateur wrestling and Olympic-level competition. At one point, rumors circulated that Gable would be unveiled as Angle’s on-screen son, but WWE ultimately chose Jason Jordan for that role.

Even during Monday Night RAW and after Friday Night SmackDown over the past few months, Chad Gable started getting ‘you suck’ chants similar to Kurt Angle. Naturally, fans are invested in Gable’s character now as well.

During a recent appearance on “Cheap Heat” with Peter Rosenberg, Chad Gable shared his thoughts on being compared to Kurt Angle and the experience of wrestling the WWE Hall of Famer in 2019.

Gable expressed that being compared to Angle is the highest compliment, considering Angle is regarded by many as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Gable mentioned Angle’s athleticism, character, and entertainment value, noting that he had it all.

“To me, I mean it’s the highest compliment in the world. I mean he could be considered, and is by some, to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, especially a guy that crossed over, pro wrestler of all time. Athletically, character-wise, entertainment-wise, everything, he had it.” 

We will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to develop Chad Gable in the coming weeks, as he is currently preoccupied with the Wyatt Sicks, who continue to harass him on Monday Night RAW.
