With WrestleMania 40 in the rearview mirror, WWE fans are eagerly turning their attention to the next big event on the calendar: SummerSlam. Set to take place at the iconic Cleveland Browns Stadium on Saturday, August 3rd, SummerSlam will have some great matches for fans and now the likely matches for the show have been revealed.
Among the headline bouts, Nia Jax is scheduled to challenge Bayley for the WWE Women’s Championship, while GUNTHER will face off against Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Additionally, WWE has been laying the groundwork for Cody Rhodes’ next major storyline, notably pitting him against The Bloodline in recent angles.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Obsever Newsletter, several anticipated matches for Summerslam are expecte, although not all have been officially confirmed yet. It’s strongly expected that Liv Morgan will face Rhea Ripley for the women’s world title on the card. Despite Seth Rollins being involved in the CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre storyline, a triple threat match isn’t currently in the plans. However, Rollins may still play a role in the match. WWE is hopeful that CM Punk will be cleared to compete by the time of the event.
Another anticipated match is Sami Zayn defending his Intercontinental title against Bron Breakker in a rematch, with the possibility of Ilja Dragunov being added to the mix. There’s also speculation about a women’s tag team title match, potentially involving champions Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn defending against challengers like Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark, Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill, or Damage CTRL. Discussions suggest this match could take place either on the PPV or during the SmackDown or Raw TV events held that weekend.
Additionally, Summerslam is expected to feature Cody Rhodes challenging Solo Sikoa for the WWE title and Logan Paul facing LA Knight for the United States title. These matches are part of the anticipated lineup for the event, pending official confirmation from WWE as the date approaches so we’ll have to see how the final card will shape up to be in the coming weeks.
