Chad Gable turned heel back in April and has since been involved in one of the best storylines of his career. It has been a long and arduous journey for Gable, and he recently criticized his previous Shorty G gimmick.
Chad Gable’s career faced challenges when he was rebranded as Shorty G on WWE’s main roster. The 38-year-old wrestler endured ridicule due to the gimmick’s cheesy nature, causing uncertainty about his future. However, Gable eventually returned to his original persona and established his own academy
While speaking during an appearance on the Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg podcast, Chad Gable reflected on his time portraying the Shorty G character in WWE. He described this period as one of his low points in his career, stating just how challenging it was to navigate.
Gable acknowledged that the “Shorty G” character was a rough phase for him, where it often felt difficult to see a positive outcome. He shared that during such tough times, his family—his wife and kids—helped him maintain perspective and stay grounded. Gable emphasized that having a proper perspective is crucial when facing challenging situations, as it helped him push through the rough periods and continue moving forward in his career.
“If you want to say the Shorty G period where I would consider that one of my low periods. That was a rough one to get through, it’s a rough one to kind of bridge the gap and say I can do this one too. I can make it through this one because sometimes it doesn’t seem like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I have a wife and kids that can kind of level me out when those things happen and put things in perspective. I think that’s the whole key to it all is just perspective.”
Chad Gable’s WWE contract was expiring and fans wondered what he would end up doing next. Ultimately, he chose to re-sign with WWE and is now involved in a storyline with the Wyatt Sicks, so we’ll have to see how the storyline will progress in the coming weeks.
