AEW’s media rights renewal is up in 2024 as its current deals with Warner Brothers Discovery are set to expire. Tony Khan has praised Warner Brothers Discovery and mentioned they are close to finalizing a new deal.

The company loaded up this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, and next week is set to include Will Ospreay vs. MJF for the International Title. Tony Khan has a reason to book loaded shows now, as he wants to secure the best deal possible.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that a new contract has not been signed for AEW. This gave the company even more reason to stack shows, as they want to get that new deal signed.

“There’s nothing new, other than the reason that these shows have been so loaded is because negotiations aren’t done, and they’re really looking to get the best foot forward. These ratings for this week, and next week and the weeks moving forward until the contract is signed, if it is signed — which presumably it will — but, these ratings are important as far as the final payment numbers and time slots and all the other stuff that’s going into the negotiations, all aspects of it. If the product looks hot in the ratings, it’ll help them. That’s why the next week is loaded, and the next two weeks will be very big shows.”
