Trick Williams lost the NXT Title at Heatwave but had a productive time on the July 9 episode of the show. Joe Hendry appeared to help Trick defeat Ethan Page and Shawn Spears in the main event match by simply saying his name.

After their main event win on NXT, Trick Williams remained focused on regaining the NXT Title. He made this clear in a backstage video, with Hendry present.

As Trick Williams acknowledged Hendry, the TNA Wrestling star appeared again. He told Trick he had his back, leading to an awkward moment. Williams went for a fist bump while Hendry went for a handshake. When Trick switched to a handshake, Hendry switched to a fist bump.

The two ended up hugging before parting ways. A hug being a universal gesture allowed them to show respect after their big match. Joe Hendry appears to be making friends on the NXT roster.
