The stakes were higher than ever as the July 10 edition of AEW Dynamite saw the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Cup go down among two of the top competitors in the land of All Elite.
The match scheduled for the night saw The American Dragon Bryan Danielson square off against the AEW star who returned after a long time, “Hangman” Adam Page, with Jeff Jarrett being the Special Enforcer, overlooking the bout at ringside.
The match was jam-packed, hard-hitting and an action thriller between two of the best in-ring performers of AEW, who realised the golden opportunity involved for the victor of the match and the tournament.
As the match approached its conclusion, a visibly bloodied Bryan was battered by Adam Page with multiple piledrivers and even got into an altercation with Jeff Jarrett. Refusing to quit, he came back into the ring to fight, but after the referee was taken out, Page began assaulting Danielson with a belt. As Jeff Jarrett attempted to intervene, Adam Page shoved him and revealed his referee t-shirt. The outcome finally saw Hangman being rolled up for a pinfall by Bryan Danielson as he had him trapped in the cross face to become the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Cup winner.
In the end, Owen Hart’s widow, Martha Hart, came down to the ring to present the trophy and championship to Bryan Danielson. With this win, The American Dragon is now set to battle AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland for his championship at their premier event next month, AEW All-In.
